hafex hybrid aerosol extinguishing SYSTEMS OFFERS pre-engineered, total flooding / In-Panel certified solutions.
Lithium-ion battery fire protection
Li-Ion battery technology, despite being constantly improved, still poses a significant fire hazard.
A mechanical shock or other misuse of the battery may lead to an increase in its internal temperature, triggering a thermal runaway in the affected cells.
In the event of a Li-Ion battery fire, the HAFEX Hybrid Aerosol Fire Extinguisher active agent consisting of potassium salts (K2CO3) neutralizes the electrolyte's decomposition products, such as Hydrogen Fluoride (HF), forming stable products (KF, 2KHF). Thus, preventing the formation of highly flammable gases as Hydrogen (H2).
The Resulting neutralizing action ultimately controls the fire and allows the temperature in the enclosure or battery pack to drop below the threshold necessary for the thermal runaway to sustain itself.
HAFEX Hybrid Mini modules are compact and provides a practical solution for applications with space limitations such as home, vehicle battery-storage systems and electric vehicle.
Energy Storage System Protection (ESS).
Battery Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Usually placed in containers, are protected using the total flooding concept.
The fire suppression agent concentration required for larger volumes such as these, is achieved through the use of our HAFEX Hybrid Grand modules.
Electrical fire protection
HAFEX Hybrid Aerosol Extinguisher Systems are ideal for both traditional and non-conventional applications. Moreover, they find use in applications once considered to be technically or financially challenging for other technologies.
Definition of total flooding according to NFPA2010:
As per section 3.3.27 of NFPA2010, a Total flooding extinguishing system is a system arranged to discharge an extinguishant into an enclosed to achieve a uninform distribution of that extinguishant into at or above the design application density, throughout the enclosure volume.
Large Enclosure:
Any room irrespective of volume e.g.: Electrical rooms, Transformer rooms, Generator rooms, Archives.
Small enclosure:
The HAFEX Hybrid Aerosol Fire Extinguishing System includes some of the smallest autonomous and automatic fire extinguishing systems, which are used to protect, internally small enclosures such as electrical panels or other power devices/equipment, which is often where the fire initiated.
